Finding rest in the bone-tired days

Have you ever felt like an energizer bunny that ran out of battery?

Like the morning I woke up with every single muscle in my body screaming: NO!!! Not time to get up already! I am tired and I don’t want to move an inch today.

Yes, bone-tired is the word.

But you still need to get up and move on with the day.

Why? Because you are a mom.

And of course, when you needed a nap the most, your toddler refused to nap.

By the end of the day, I was physically exhausted, but also mentally restless at the same time.

I felt that I did not accomplish what I wanted to during the day. I needed to do more, and I should have done more.

After dinner, I decided that I needed to take a bike ride alone to break the day.

I stopped to sit on a bench over looking the lake. I took a deep breath, leaned back, and closed my eyes. In a second, I was in a different world.

The breeze blew into my ears right over my mind, caressing my ever so restless brain cells and calming them down one by one.

Oh how I loved the evening warm sun on my cheeks, the spreading view of blue water and the clear sky. And how I loved listening to the waves crashing, and the whispering of leaves of palm trees.

These words came to my ear: Be still.

Just be still.

Stop worrying about your performance.

And watch me perform.

I made the waves blowing over the lake.

I made the breeze, the sunset.

The trees and chirping birds.

Do you see that little duck floating up and down in the lake? It happily surrenders to the wave.

Surrender to me and you will have peace.

Like springs of water pouring into my dry and tired spirit, my heart was refreshed in this little piece of heaven.

Not a day in God’s calendar is wasted.

He delights in us as a father delights in his children, always.

He delights in our days when we work hard. He delights in our days when we feel tired and lazy.

Isn’t that so comforting?

Some days we just lack the zeal to pursue Him. But those are exactly the days He is pursuing us, He wants us to be quiet enough to see His handyworks in front of our eyes, and enjoy.

Isn’t that awesome?

There is a little piece of heaven everywhere my friend.

Just sit still and you will find it.

”Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
