21 Lessons for My Sons

by | Oct 21, 2020 | Faith journey, Motherhood | 0 comments

I just saw a FB post about rules for daughters, so I thought it would be fun to write some lessons for sons too.

  1. Remember, “a man who does not work shall not eat.” Work hard.
  2. Boundaries are not put there to limit you, but to protect you.
  3. Don’t just hold the door, hold the door until the next person takes over.
  4. Try different food, your future wife will appreciate you.
  5. Learn to manage money.
  6. Knowledge is good, but wisdom is better.
  7. Love God, your family and your country.
  8. Respect is earned by what you do, not what you wear and what you drive.
  9. A real man can cry too.
  10. Be a model of manners. Talk to the person left alone in the room.
  11. The only person who can drag you back is you.
  12. It’s awesome to be different.
  13. Remember, the friend who pressures you to do bad things is not really your friend.
  14. People can indeed tell what kind of person you are by the way you treat waiters.
  15. Being really kind can bring you much more joy than being important.
  16. Love your mom, give her compliments often.
  17. Hug your dad. Learn to do small work around the house with Him.
  18. Listen to the older generation.
  19. It truly is better to give than receive. So be generous; always reciprocate.
  20. Be a man of integrity.  Do what’s right even when no one is watching.
  21. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.
