God’s word is our shield of faith to protect our marriages

I love listening to other people’s testimony about the miracles God has done in their lives.

It’s a reminder that although not seen, His hands are constantly pushing and molding everything in our lives for the better.

A friend gave a testimony at a mops meeting recently. (btw we love mops! @Mops_international. ) She talked about how her marriage nearly fell apart last year. But through the counseling in church, she revived her marriage! 👏🙏

She specifically talked about the one verse her counselor told her: ”take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16

Just like her, at first, I didn’t understand what this verse had to do with marriages.

Then her counselor said to her: ”treat every unkind word between you two as flaming arrows from the enemy. Don’t retaliate, but extinguish it with your shield of faith.”

Wow, isn’t that straight to the point?

The devil is called the father of lies for a reason.

He never came out with pitch forks and horns on his head. He tricks us with layers and layers of craftily designed lies.

And there is no better satisfaction for him than to stir up conflict in marriages because marriage and family are the foundation of God’s kingdom.

Thus, our battle is not with flesh and blood but a spiritual one.

We are not fighting battles with husbands or with people who are unkind to us or have different opinions. We are battling with the enemy’s schemes and lies.

The only way to untangle those webs of lies is to take up our shields of faith.

May your marriage flourish in your walk with Jesus, my friend. Remember, His words are alive and well. They are the best remedy for repairing and healing a relationship!
