Just when you think this crazy 2020 is almost gone, it just gets crazier.
More mask mandates in many states. Churches keep closing down. People are being told how many guests they can have in their homes for holidays and even being encouraged to spy on the neighbors!
But in the meantime, abortion clinics, casinos, strip clubs, and liquor stores can stay open. — are we living in a twilight zone now?
We may not live in a twilight zone, but we are definitely living in a year of drought. Many things and many people are trying to keep us down.
Friends, let the Word give us some encouragement—
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
Whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
That sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes,
Its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
And never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
You see, we who draw courage in the Lord will have great strength.
We will not be bent out of shape under heat.
Like a well watered tree deeply rooted by the stream, we will be faithful and useful.
That may mean pushing through difficult financial situations and persevering.
That may mean overcoming anxiety, and keeping the focus on our husbands and children’s well-being.
That may mean being the encouraging friend, and lending a helping hand to others.
That may mean being more active in our little circle to voice and to protect our faith and values.
Friends, let’s clinch even closer to the word of God, so our tree of faith will always be green. We will have no fear when heat comes.
And we will strive to be the ones that bear fruit even in the year of drought.
Love
Ying
