Should Christian Care About Politics?

by | Apr 4, 2021 | Faith journey, Social commentary | 0 comments

I’ve heard enough about how Christians should stay out of politics because we represent Jesus, and shouldn’t alienate other people. Or worse yet, “God doesn’t care about your politics.”

God cares about what we think, what our attitudes are, and what we do in life, so why wouldn’t He care about one of the most important aspects that affect people’s lives? Wouldn’t He care about Christian’s being persecuted around the world because of totalitarian and communism?

Sure we represent Jesus, so shouldn’t we speak out for Him, for the truth, and for the cause of God? Shouldn’t we stand for the unborns, for the family union, for freedom of religion, and against socialism and communism that put the government and elites in place of God?

Romans 13:1-2 says:” Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.”

America is a republic, a people’s republic, so we, the people, are the governing authority. We should govern our country with God’s doctrine, not the doctrine from the hands of people who want to replace God.

”Believers must promote a biblical worldview. That can appear to favor one party over another in a season,” says Tim Tebow.

In this season of time, it’s evident which group of people are promoting the enemy’s doctrine against our God’s doctrine: the murdering of the unborn, canceling gender differences, lawlessness in our cities and our borders, Marxism that will destroy the foundation of God’s kingdom– the family union.

The great anti-Nazi dissident, pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer said these famous words: “Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without repentance. Baptism without church discipline. Communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross. Grace without Jesus Christ.”

Unfortunately, cheap grace is prevalent in our society today.

There are progressive Christians trying to convince us that abortion is aligned with Biblical teaching. There are pastors who say “Awomen” instead of ”Amen,” there are plenty of Christians who caved into the cancel culture for fear of being canceled.

So the real question is: do we have more fear of men than fear of God?

Mind you, there are churches in Russia and China too. It’s just that they are constantly under the government’s monitor and only preach what they are allowed to preach. Are we not too far from that?

Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer died at the hands of the Nazis at age 39. That’s what a great Christian was willing to give up for the truth of God.

And I bet God gave him great rewards in heaven. Because God knows everything and cares about everything we do, and that includes politics.

So how much are we willing to give up for Jesus? Do you fear men more than you fear God?

Love, Ying
