I have thought of many titles for this new painting. I finally settled with “In dark water”.
The inspiration came from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: ”Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Please read carefully, this scripture does not tell us to give thanks FOR all the circumstances—-sickness, disaster and evil do not come from God. This verse is reminding us to thank Him IN everything.
I know it’s easier said than done, sometimes it’s much, much easier to vent and be bitter than to stop and question why bad things happen to good people.
But if we have true faith, we will thank Him For His omnipresent presence, and believe the ultimate goodness will come out of our distress.
One day we will all face the profound truth: we cannot bring our houses, money, cars, possessions or our earthly bodies to heaven, at the end of the day, only our hope remains.
So, when I look at this painting, I would like to think this woman submerged in the dark water is quietly praying with all her soul, and finds peace with her circumstances.
