Where are my fellow night owls at? 🌙 🦉
I 👏🏻 am 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 morning 👏🏻 person.
I love sleep. I love staying up late. But the saying is true. The early bird gets the worm. On the odd days I wake up early, I without question, have a more productive day.
So this morning when my cat woke me up at 5:30 AM instead of rolling over and going back to sleep I decided to get up and start my day.
I read my Bible, drank some water and coffee, got the kids drinks ready and then got a 25 minute walk in all before 7 AM.
This did not come naturally. I had to fight for it. Remember, I’m not a morning person. I would have much rather slept in until 7 AM.
I often want to make good choices. I just don’t often follow through. My spirit is willing but my body is weak. My flesh screams out at me begging for comfort.
Enticing me to drown in the negative feelings that come with trials
Enticing me to eat alllll the foods that satisfy temporarily.
Enticing me to shut down, numb out and slowly slip into a funk.
It’s all too easy. One poor choice leads to another and before long you’re just stuck. It feels like Groundhog Day.
Thankfully, there’s hope. It doesn’t have to stay that way. All it takes is one good choice in the right direction. You are in control of your actions. You don’t even have to WANT to do it but you can still choose to make the next best choice. Self-discipline is a gift you can give yourself daily. You deserve that gift.
So do it. Make the next best choice. Every day (multiple times a day) we can choose life or choose death. I pray you’ll choose life.
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have placed before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19
